Movie nitpicks
Jan. 10th, 2012 03:09 amSo I was reading through my old LJ journal. Looking back, it's almost like I was a completely different person back then. I gotta say, that journal has documented about 12 years of my life. I'll be sad if anything ever happens to it.
But that's not what I'm making a post about!!
So I've watched Tangled for the second time over the weekend, and I gotta say I have a minor pet peeve about the movie. While I think the movie itself does a good job following the Disney formula and I think overall it's really good, there's something that really bugs me about this film.
The opening and ending narration.
Flynn makes a terrible narrator. I think it's just the way he narrates, like he can't decide if he should make the narration funny or serious, and it comes off being neither. I can really get into the movie otherwise, but once Flynn starts trying to narrate it just kind of ruins the whole whimsical, fairytale effect for the movie. It's a part of the movie that really just drives me mad.
And I dislike most narration in films anyway. In some cases it works, in other cases it just feels rushed and lazy. Here it felt rushed and lazy.
Not really something worth making a post over, but oh well.
